In-Home Speech Therapy in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV
Our Speech Therapists travel to our clients’ homes to make therapy sessions as accessible to them as possible. From the comfort of our clients’ homes, we provide services for a variety of speech disorders, some of which have been detailed below.
Dysarthria
Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder that makes it challenging to articulate words or to maintain a regular speaking pace. This disorder occurs as a result of brain damage which is often associated with strokes, brain tumors, or brain injuries.
People suffering from this disorder may have mumbled or slurred speech. They may also have an unnatural pitch or experience other vocal challenges such as sounding hoarse or out of breath.
To assist patients with this disorder, our Speech Therapists administer exercises for improving breathing while speaking, strengthening mouth muscles, and improving tongue and lip coordination to enhance articulation.
Dysphagia
Dysphagia is a disorder that causes difficulties with swallowing food and water. Our Speech Therapists are skilled in administering assessments, exercises, and treatments to evaluate, monitor, and improve this condition.
Aphasia
People that are suffering from Aphasia have difficulties in expressing themselves and understanding language in verbal or written mediums. Strokes are a common cause for this disorder, while less common causes include severe trauma, brain tumors, brain infections, and neurodegenerative disorders. People that have a family history of aphasia or are older also have an increased risk of developing Aphasia.
Our speech therapists help patients learn how to work with their new communication abilities and can also assist with restoring lost abilities. Additionally, we provide training in augmentative and alternative communication such as writing, using gestures, or using computer-assisted communication devices.
Voice Disorders
Those that have dementia, tumors, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other diseases may experience voice disorders that make it difficult to control one’s pitch, tone, or other aspects of speech. We are experienced in working with people that are afflicted by these diseases and subsequent speech disorders.
